The Dalton School high school is chosen as one of a group of thirty secondary schools in the United States to participate in the “Eight Year Study.” The Commission on the Relation of School and College appointed by the Progressive Education Association conducts the study. Completed in 1940, the purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of progressive education in high school on students’ college performance. Over two hundred colleges were directly involved in the “Eight Year Study.” The Progressive Education Association’s five-volume report on the study was published in 1942.
